Last Monday evening I went to a concert at the Royal Albert hall. The venue, as usual, is impressive. The red velvet seats, the beautiful architecture and the amazing acoustic.
Most of all, the Band performing was impressive: Pink Martini.
Pink Martini is a 13-member "little orchestra" from Portland, USA. They draw inspiration from different culture, retro pop, jazz and classical music.
I thought I share this wonderful group with you, my fellow Trisorers, and if you have time this week- end, listen at these songs:
Pink Martini combines covers with original songs and their "take" on the French que sera sera is simply divine.
If instead you don't feel like dancing, have a drink to celebrate the start of the week-end and why not a nice pink martini? Here is the essential recipe:
1.25 oz Vodka
0.25 oz lime juice
0.25 oz triple sec
0.25 oz cranberry juice
Serve it extra cold.
Enjoy!

Who wouldn't want to love him?
I met him during one of trip to LA. He was reserved, shy and always fiddling with his guitar.
Then, all of the sudden, my eyes stopped starring at him. To my surprise, he could actually sing…
He turned out to be Lowing from a little town close to Gothenburg (less glamorous than Stockholm but still “Nordic glamorous” enough for me)
I though I’d share this little gem with you all as it is the song I listen to when I need some nice introspective moments during my busy life.
I love his struggling soul and this song “love come shine” expresses the need of love (Love come shine it’s an imperative – not being English myself I thought he missed an S!!) of the cold Swedish heart.
Who wouldn’t want to love him?

Seal it with a kiss, Britney
I have been following her around for a decade now. When she first entered the music scene, it took me a while to understand why she was performing in a skimpy outfit dancing around like a school girl. She was a predecessor of today's routine where music joins dancing in a sexy outcome. She was Britney, the one and only. When I read about her new album "Femme Fatale", I was a bit skeptical about her come back. Has she fully recovered? We are talking about a girl that went straight to hell and back...
After listing at her album, I have to say I am not overwhelmed.
I remember how much I loved this:
The new album is a bit disappointing for me and this song below is not nearly as good as the old Britney
We wish her a full recovery soon because we are a bit in love with the idea of this naughty school girl... still.
Give us a sign, Britney, hit us baby one more time.

Some nights...
When I was 16 I started working in a local radio (called Radio Centro 99.7MHZ). I was running a lovely little radio program called "Love box". I know it sounds cheesy nowadays but back then and in the middle of nowhere in Sicily, the name was quite cool.
I miss that time of my life quite a lot as it was fun and I had the opportunity to enjoy people and music at the same time (it was a program in which you could request your favorite song and dedicate to someone too). Feel free to drop me an email and I will make sure to publish your chosen song in next blog!
All started on the notes of this song - The opening one!
I thought I share with you 2 songs which were very popular in Italy at the time.
Ligabue..
and
the 883!
I hope you Enjoy them as much as we all did back then. xx

LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME
I am feeling nostalgic this Friday morning, maybe it's all the talks about my future wedding or simply the fact that I am going to "la bella Italia" this w-e.Things I thought were lost forever with time and distance, will reappear in my life (old friends, old school, old ex boyf.). I found myself browsing through my old record collection (yes I have vinyls - how antique I know...) and remembering my good old Italian time.
For all of you, some songs from my past who helped my soul and artistic development. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did when I was 18 (almost 2 years ago! :-) )
Old time classic Nina Simone. I remember this was one of the first English lyrics I learned: "love me or leave me, let me be lonely"
"To whom will I smile if not you?" - Fausto Leali 1967's song is a MUST song to listen to for Italian Nostalgia
and with this final song, I know all my fellow Italians will put an almost disgusted faces on.
I challenge any of you, guys, to swear that at the age of 12/14 you didn't listen to this song - Laura Pausini la solitudine:
It's all for now. Happy flashback to all of you.
Love,
T

All there is, is you and me
I don't get easily pleased by today's music scene. I put an add on a "talent" website for new and up&coming bands to submit their music to Trisori. We are looking for the soundtrack of next collection. All I got is plain, repetitive, already seen and heard type of music.
It's like if the London music scene tries to copy-cut itself. You, though, have some of the singers wearing interesting attires or going a step forward and showing their generous breast in public to attract attention, some of them even sing in falsetto à la "Scissor sisters" to give themselves an edge.
Depressing and a bit dull.
Then, when all the hopes were lost, I went back to my old friend and discovered this gem.
Interesting, brain stimulating music by a London based group called the guilty ones.
Have a look at the song I like the most and let me know your thoughts. Unconventional songwriting and good lyrics that make you loose track of time (and give you a bit of a kick)
I though that's what music is for, no?
