Wanted: Loafers

Whilst most of us might think loafers are geeky or even, dare I say it, unfeminine, TE has very strong views on the matter and has hard evidence of the coolness factor these babies add to any outfit.

Just one rule - to be worn exclusively with trousers, the result of a skirt-and-loafer combo could be fatal.

My pick of the wide range of loafers I have seen around town has to narrow down to a top 3:

#1 Top Shop studded loafer
Honestly, cannot find any fault: price, comfort, cool factor. They have it all. And I just *had* to have them (husband will have a shock, he's still moaning about the last pair of shoes purchased...ahem...a 'few' weeks ago).

#2 The classic loafer
Traditional, evergreen, stylish - this one from Asos but many available on high street and the likes

#3 Loafers with heels
For those that really cannot do the whole flat pump thing these gorgeous Uterque heeled loafers will do the trick

TE thinks these are all very viable options for the fashion- forward girls out there, watch this space - come spring everyone will be lusting for your loafers!

Bag *this*!

These days TE finds itself a bit less wealthy than before; put it down to tax increases, the inflation or whatever else affects TE's income (chocolate??).


Anyhow.


Fact is, the days of a Mulberry bag per season have sailed for TE it thinks.


So TE being quite the entrepreneur (in fashion terms) has set out to find something to quench the thirst for bag-ness without breaking the old bank.


Just FYI, even if you are still filthy rich, these days you should be acting with austerity given that it's the word of the jour! Also the role of damsel in distress and all that is quite sexy. Men love it.


So this is what TE found for you lot, a safe haven of lovely soft leather bags that range from 100£ to 400£. Now what is wrong with that?!


Nothing, that's the cool thing.

Look here, it's a bag from Uterque the latest sibling of Inditex (think Zara, Massimo Dutti etc). And boy do they deliver!


The models are classy and the leather is buttery (look for the 100% leather models!).


TE really likes these arm candies and frankly feels that the husband should *not* complain about TE having "enough" handbags.


Honestly, where does said husband get such ideas??...the word "enough" is banned from anything associated to TE's belongings. Fact.

Put a hat on it

Tis that time of the year again when we crave warm clothes and comfy wraps. Cashmere to be more precise (santa did you get that *hint*).


Not that the summer has actually happened in London but being perfectly honest TE has a certain preference for autumnal colours. The reds, the hues of oranges, the grey skies...all sources of great inspiration to TE. I mean, let's be frank, it doesn't take much for TE to find an excuse to shop.


Currently TE is channeling head-wear more than actual clothes and what can it say that hasn't been said before? Not much really, except that TE really endorses these trilbys and fedoras that it is seeing on mags and in streets. Actually, TE has brought itself one of the most acclaimed brands: Christys (http://christys-hats.com/). Namely the Marylebone in Bessemer (shown here in light grey, a picture taken by TE might follow if you wish).

TE completely endorses the acclaims. It is a beautiful hat and for someone like TE who is by far no hat specialist it looks the business: creamy silk lining, proper thick felt and the stitches of well-made stuff. Yes, TE must say it is quite impressed by the quality and for 65£ we say it's a bargain...well, you make of it what you wish but TE will just end with one thing: this winter a trendy fedora hat is a must!

Who wouldn't want to love him?

When I first saw this blonde Swede, I thought nothing more than how cute he looked.

I met him during one of trip to LA. He was reserved, shy and always fiddling with his guitar.

Then, all of the sudden, my eyes stopped starring at him. To my surprise, he could actually sing…

He turned out to be Lowing from a little town close to Gothenburg (less glamorous than Stockholm but still “Nordic glamorous” enough for me)

I though I’d share this little gem with you all as it is the song I listen to when I need some nice introspective moments during my busy life.

I love his struggling soul and this song “love come shine” expresses the need of love (Love come shine it’s an imperative – not being English myself I thought he missed an S!!) of the cold Swedish heart.

Seal it with a kiss, Britney

I have been following her around for a decade now. When she first entered the music scene, it took me a while to understand why she was performing in a skimpy outfit dancing around like a school girl. She was a predecessor of today's routine where music joins dancing in a sexy outcome. She was Britney, the one and only.
When I read about her new album "Femme Fatale", I was a bit skeptical about her come back. Has she fully recovered? We are talking about a girl that went straight to hell and back...




After listing at her album, I have to say I am not overwhelmed.
I remember how much I loved this:


The new album is a bit disappointing for me and this song below is not nearly as good as the old Britney

We wish her a full recovery soon because we are a bit in love with the idea of this naughty school girl... still.

Give us a sign, Britney, hit us baby one more time.

Head for the music...

For all those lucky ones out there who have managed to secure tickets to Hyde Park, Glasto, any other music festival. I am officially envious!


But given that green envy doesn't go well with my complexion I'll get over it. Here's the thing ladies: I don't actually think I would survive at a festival..the camping, the toilets (if any), all that mud! But hey I am rock *and* roll. Inside, very deep inside.


Not having ever been to a festival I have, however, thought of the perfect outfit which would revolve around something like this yellow raincoat from Asos...

Accompanied by short jeans (boyfriend style), hunter boots and a tank top. Must-have accessory for all of that to work would have to be a long necklace and some bangles...done!

To hat or to fascinate?

THAT is the question!


So with Ascot and several other horsy events just gone by, the lingering question remains: what is more fashionably 'cool', the hat or the fascinator??


We would like to hear your views...I am personally curious to know what you fashionable girls think so drop a line with your thoughts!


For me the fascinator has a whole lotta charms: it's less bulky than a hat, adds va-va-voom to the one side of the head and generally goes better with statement jewellery.

The stars of Trisori

We are all very excited here at Trisori's headquarter and we thought to share this good news with all of you Trisorers!
On Wednesday night the gossip and press websites have been dominated by Alicia Keys Black ball. One of the guest was Pirates of the Caribbean and Frankenstein female lead actress( if you have not been to the national theatre to see this Amazing play... Shame on you!) Naomie Harris.
To our surprise and delight she was wearing Trisori's hard candy ring. She looks absolutely divine with it!

Prickly Cool

Sometimes the most simple things make a style. As Da Vinci said 'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication' after all..

Today I spotted someone wearing a very pleasing combination of colours and to make it all come together I noticed a hair piece. Simple yet essential: a porcupine quill, black and white and very long sticking out on the side.

How chic. Honestly, this girl really pulled off the look with a red-orange combo; tanned shoes and this black and white hair thing.

I have not yet been gifted with the eye-to-camera power but I'm hoping the description can convey the effortless beauty of it all!

Awaiting to spot you sporting stunning hair decorations in the next few months, my final word is: cool.

Topshop's secret

They tried to keep it a secret but then they confessed they are very bad at keeping one.
The new Topshop's Secret Store is hidden away behind a Wild at Heart florist in the corner of the lower ground floor.
The new pop up shop is curated by London Fashion Week design duo Meadham Kirchhoff. The idea behind it is that customers will discover it by chance but we thought to share it with you as it's more fun to know things in advance (above all if they are fashion related!).

Inside this weird interiors filled with ribbons (coming from the ceiling) and flowers, there are some of the Topshop designs that never made it to production, Designer collaboration with top London and NY names, quirky headpieces and all the weird and wonderful gems of the fashion scenes. Prices start at £50 and go up to £350 for boutique dresses.

I would definitely go and have a look at what's on offer. You can snap a unique headpiece for less than £100, just in time for Ascott and the weddings season!

And if you really don't find anything to satisfy your fashion palate, The florist will sell customized flowers to you to make your home look pretty.

Annie Hall has it all

Undoubtedly one of the best films ever, it recently aired on tv a few times and I felt compelled to watch it again. I could never tire of seeing it, the witty sarcasm always raises a smile and the acting is just outstanding. Woody Allen is a genius, at least in movie-making...ahem.

One aspect of the movie which has, however, just recently caught my eye *wink* is the styling of the goofy and sweet Annie Hall in person. Extremely contemporary, although it was filmed over 30 years ago!

Where to start...

1 - I particularly heart the floppy summer hat from the post-tennis scene. If we bring it into context now it works wonders with those flared jeans that are so ss 2011.

2 - Cross dressing perfection (see previous post) which she totally pulls off by looking feminine and edgy at the same time. The pants are baggy, the shirt is loose and she's even wearing a tie! 

3 - Natural and fresh makeup and hair, something of that effortless cool which I find very sexy. And bold!

We've seen a few celebs trying this look at home, with mixed results...one definite thumbs up goes to La Moss as usual for getting the look spot on: it's about relaxed and loose-fitting wear with a very flirty wink to the girl in you.

Think men's chinos or show some leg with a short baggy jean, team with a white shirt or slouchy white top and then the unmissable tie which could also be a simple knotted silk scarf.

To me the movie evokes careless freedom, the feeling that with a smile you can win the world over. It's a good feeling to have!

Oh My Blazer!

Hello my dears,


After this mini-break (even I, sometimes, need a break) my post will have to deal with an essential: the boyfriend blazer.


I am obsessed with mine brought at Zara a few seasons ago in a peachy-nude colour and I use it *so* much, it never ceases to get some positive remarks!

This year the high street has loads on offer and whilst I would still go to Zara and the like I would take inspiration from the Stella McCartney collection. Great for pinning the look:
- A cream colour works well with everything and can be used both in the evening with some shine or in the day with whites and nudes;
- The fit is perfectly on the money in this model by Stella McCartney: fitted around the waist and arms but loosely tailored elsewhere. It's a boyfriend blazer but that's no excuse for dropping your feminine side...
- Finally the length: just below the bum for added cool over a pair of skinny jeans.


I would also recommend rolling up the sleeves for the final touch.


Ready to go, pair with white jeans + white tee for a fresh summer in the city look or skinny blue jeans and a silky blouse. Add some feminine touches like long chains, big earrings and sparkly shoes!

Glam on trend

The super 80's italian sneakers brand is back in fashion. Fact. Sienna Miller has been seen around with them, hell even our favourite pin-bearing model Alexa Ching is into them and is the face of their ads!

We have to have a pair, having lived in them for several years when they were fashionable in Italy I struggle to not interpret them according to my tastes now. So, I suggest 
glamming up the old trainer with a silk ribbon upgrade (from VVRouleaux bien sur), now *that* my lovelies is more glam!

I heart them in Boysenberry canvas and a trendy glam-up to replace the laces with a light pink silk ribbon or even grosgrain ribbon as shown below. Surely you can see the similarity with the Lanvin pumps we lusted after last season??

Loving them and the options are endless...lime green with white silk ribbon, red with orange silk ribbon (daring!), blue with anything silk ribbon...endless I say, again. And for just over 40£!

Obsessed and Possessed?

So I'm obsessed with lipstick!! 100%, completely, unforgivably obsessed! And when did I realise this little truth about me? Well, two summers ago I went on holiday with my boyfriend for 10 days, and when we arrived to the hotel and unpacked all my clothes, bags, shoes, etc, I realised that I had taken over the whole bathroom cupboard! One whole shelf was filled with products for the lips. The whole of it was filled with my lipsticks, lip glosses, lip liners - you name it! I had taken 35 of them! 35!! I mean who does that? For 10 days?

When my boyfriend went into the bathroom and saw the cupboard, I could just see his

reflection in the mirror full of complete and utter shock! That was when he told me "Do you know that you have 35 lipsticks in there?". That number kind of scared me, but I can't help it. I have the need to have every colour, tone, texture available on the market today. I love colours that are completely unusable! Really! Anything goes - pink, purple, orange, red. For the classic red lip - Christian Dior is my absolute favourite of all time. Anything YSL goes for me - any colour at all - I pretty much have the whole collection. Yes, guilty like that.. And my newest discovery - BM Beauty lip gloss by Kimberly from Pussycat Dolls is surprisingly soft and gives a beautiful glow without that sticky feeling on the lips - so my hair never sticks to my mouth anymore.

All there is, is you and me

I don't get easily pleased by today's music scene. I put an add on a "talent" website for new and up&coming bands to submit their music to Trisori. We are looking for the soundtrack of next collection. All I got is plain, repetitive, already seen and heard type of music.
It's like if the London music scene tries to copy-cut itself. You, though, have some of the singers wearing interesting attires or going a step forward and showing their generous breast in public to attract attention, some of them even sing in falsetto à la "Scissor sisters" to give themselves an edge.
Depressing and a bit dull.
Then, when all the hopes were lost, I went back to my old friend and discovered this gem.


Interesting, brain stimulating music by a London based group called the guilty ones.
Have a look at the song I like the most and let me know your thoughts. Unconventional songwriting and good lyrics that make you loose track of time (and give you a bit of a kick)
I though that's what music is for, no?

Carry-all

As fashionable girls we are prone to temptation and have not been able to resist fashion trends. Ever. If you recognise yourself in this description you will probably have a vast array of handbags in different sizes, shapes and colours. I'll take that as a Yes!

One thing though that is quite new on the fashion horizon is the realisation that girls like us carry around a lot of luggage. Not just figuratively speaking, I mean all those make-up bags and shoe changes, emergency leggings/ tights/ holdups, creams, magazines, you name it we have it :)

So, finally designers have come to terms with the fact that we cannot only live on IT bags and I have spotted some fab totes this season that can really complement your existing handbag-age. I would never suggest a replacement #areyoucrazy.

Around town the Jil Sander Market bag in jelly plastic (also comes in leather) seems to be all the rage although I must admit I prefer the traditional cloth ones that hide the contents. My favourite picks come down to:
- An evergreen: the Herve Chapelier bag, comes in many many colours and resists for years of throwing about;
- A fashion statement: the Yohji Yamamoto bag available at the V&A exhibition *hearts*
- For the art-lover: I am digging the Sara berman Dan Canvas Bag in Ghost Dancer (shown in the pic)

Remember to keep it neutral but fun, it will complement your handbag and allow you to carry even more STUFF around with you!

One colour: White

There is much one could say about the recent Chanel Cruise 2012 show, starting from the amazing setting and the wonderful wonderful clothes.

One might also cringe a bit at the 'Tale of a Fairy' movie released on such occasion, yes one might (check out here if not already seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcWR8nqdqoI&feature=related). Not quite sure about this 'fashion movies' trend-thing.

But what KL is really really *really* good at is taking basics and making them, well, a fairytale. In the Cruise 2012 collection I noticed an abundance of white - fair enough it is a cruise collection but still.

My view? Stock up on white now, it's all over the place and you can find some gems on the high street as well - I will mostly be looking at versions with broderie anglaise for the summer and with meche panels for the winter. Much like this Reiss dress.

After selling out the Kate dress I guess they can do no wrong can they? ;)

These beauties have flown off the shelves and it's no wonder:
Gladiators *tick*,

AND they are effortlessly cool *tick times a million*.

Many, many girls around London have been spotted wearing these since last summer when the gladiator trend started. One year on these shoes are still very much the most worn flat sandal shoes around town.

Personally I would style them with skinny jeans and slouchy tshirt, to rock up a flowery dress or with some evening silky shorts...the possibilities are endless!

They're out of stock online but promises have been made that they will be back within weeks. Oh yes.
Otherwise use those pins to head over to the Covent Garden shop where there's still a few sizes in this wonderful natural snake leather. Also loving the grey suede and the very OTM jelly fluo pink or turquoise #buythemall.

Bring on the summer gigs and picnics in the park, we are sooo ready!

Kafka Jap-tastic

When a friend asked me to suggest a book to read, a storm of mackerels rushed through my head.

No, I didn’t loose the plot. The mackerels are just a flashback from one of the most compelling, weird and ecstatic novels I have read in the past few years:

Kafka on the Shore
by Haruki Murakami, translated by Phillip Gabriel
656pp, Harvill, £12.99

Set in rural and urban Japan, the plot unveils in two tranches.

In the first one, the 15 year-old Kafka Tamura runs away from Tokio and from his father, who kills cats to make flutes with their souls. Kafka ends up in the Japanese provinces where he befriends cross-gender librarian Oshima and the mysterious Mrs. Saeki, who offer him an employment and place to stay.

The second tranche of the plot describes how a group of wartime evacuees glimpsed a UFO before falling unconscious. All the evacuees cam back to their wits after a few hours except for Nakata who remains in a coma for weeks before waking up bestowed with cat-talking powers.  Many years later, Nakata comes across Kafka’s father, while he works as a “cat finder”.

The story continues in the most bizarre, entertaining way.

I won't give away the ending as that *would* be a crime. You will have to read it and, trust me, you will be captured by the twisted and enthralling world of one of the most acclaimed modern japanese authors.

Read this book if you liked: 'One hundred years of solitude' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
