Why Peplums Are Your Friend

The wave of peplums adorning jackets, tops, skirts and dresses which flooded the catwalks and collections this season can, for many, be rather intimidating. Like most women I know, I have a strict aversion to any clothing that could potentially make my hips look any larger than they need. And, at first glance, peplums can seem to fall into this category. However, a well cut peplum can be supremely flattering as well as fashion forward, falling largely into the rather more desirable category of ‘hides a multitude of sins’. From floaty to structured, minimalist to baroque era frills, this seasons peplum come in a range of incarnations to suit your every mood.

To ease yourself into the trend, try this sequin embellished, super sweet miniskirt by Preen.

The subtle ruffling at the waist is understated while still remaining a feature. Make sure to show it off by tucking in whatever top you choose to pair it with.
If this has whet your appetite for the waist enhancing frill, then Alexander McQueen’s emerald green dress should be right up your street.

With a tightly drawn in waist and fitted skirt, the peplum frill will draw welcome attention to the smallest part of the torso while skimming rather politely over the tops of the hips and stomach. Is it any wonder the fashion pack have welcomed the style with open arms?
For a more structured look, The Row bring us a clean cut tailored peplum in soft cotton jersey with black silk trim.

Wear this piece with a pencil skirt or skinny jeans; the key to keeping the peplum flattering is to pair it with slim cut, fitted clothing: the peplum is volume enough all by itself.
If you are looking to make a striking statement this season then look no further than this scarlet Osman number.

Against the clean lines and colour block style, the leather peplum is a stand out feature. There is no need to overdress this piece, simply team with minimalist heels, an up-do and Trisori’s Bubbles earrings for the ultimate on trend ensemble.

Love of the week: Killer Bikini

It's officially that time of year again: bikini shopping season! If you want to seriously turn heads this summer at the beach or the poolside, try one of these killer bikinis.

Neon is in this season, and it's easy to keep the trend going on the beach with a playful, bright string bikini like this from Cia Maritima. The classic triangle top is adjustable and comes in several fun neon shades, as well as black. Golden chain details on both the top and bottom add some sparkle to the string bikini. This style will look amazing on a long or athletic body. Pair it with sofia bangles for some beach glamour:

If you want to really catch someone's eye in your bikini, try this stunning suede fringe style from VIX. The nude suede top is sexy and fashionable, adding authenticity to the fringe style, and complemented with a touch of colour from the blue and gold bead adornments. The bottom features hip ties, also with blue and gold beads, and comes in both Brasillian and full coverage styles to suit a variety of body types. Pair it with Trisori's bubbles earrings for a fashionable look:

Inspiration of the Month: Edie Sedgwick

Edie Sedgwick was a model and socialite who was best known for being the star of some of Andy Warhol's famous films. With her short, boyish haircut and her distinctive, large chandelier earrings and necklaces she became a fashion icon.

In this picture we can see an example of her plain and simple clothing highlighting her earrings and long necklace she is wearing - an adaptation of the simple crucifix. Her t-shirt and leggings are already a popular combination at the moment which makes this combination particularly inspirational for the upcoming summer weather.

This picture shows just how striking and effective long earrings can be. Long and big earrings can sometimes be thought of as slightly coarse but this picture shows that they can be used as the centrepiece for a fantastic outfit. Edie's earrings were almost always made out of light and simple materials, which makes her style easy to emulate, as well as comfortable.
Edie's necklaces were sometimes outrageous and effortlessly impressive. Creativity was the key to Edie's popularity and this incredible example shows us why. It is truly something special and has inspired us to create statement pieces in our collection as we think that women should be centre stage - something, we feel, that can be achieved through our jewellery. Try Trisori's bubbles set for a maximum impact:
