Summer-dry

Imagine.. Perfectly manicured fingers, long healthy nails, beautiful bright nail polish.. then you move your gaze higher.. and what do you see? The horror of dry skin! And no amount of "manicuring" is going to make that look pretty. Impossible!

Care for your hands this season by doing weekly olive oil soaks - literally, pour some olive oil into a container wide enough to put your hands and just let the oil nourish your skin for 5-7 minutes.

For those of you who are looking to try out the more cosmetic approach - go for Bliss Glamour Gloves and Hand Cream set. The hand cream is great even on its own, but the gel inside the gloves contains antioxidants, ceramides and moisturising oils that will take care of any dry skin on the hands. What's more, the gloves can be re-used numerously and should last about a year! I've had mine for 2 months now - still going strong.

A not so Italian Snack at Spuntino

I was really glad my colleague gave me the chance to try this place as I might not have visited yet if it wasn’t for her. During the morning routine of loading up emails and social media sites I noticed on facebook that it was her birthday but that she hadn’t mentioned anything to us. So I quickly arranged to take her for lunch somewhere of her choice. I was thrilled when she suggested Spuntino (after pressing her), being a massive fan of sister restaurant Polpo.

On the slightly unsavoury Rupert St, this venue is smaller than Polpo but cosy, in an old building with a semi-converted interior, fitting in with the rustic style of the restaurants. The architectural sketches adorning the walls are a nice touch and the central bar surrounded by eating counters gives it that real New York urban feel of somewhere constantly buzzing with people given that you can’t book.

The menu is small but full of tasty morsels and plates. Everything was packed full of flavour – from the Panzanella salad with perfectly ripe tomatoes to the chickpea and squid in-it’s-ink salad. (Albeit a slight liability to munch wearing a white jacket). I was totally intrigued by the sliders which I have seen on a menu since butn't heard of previously - they turned out to be mini burger-style sandwiches - and I was assured that the pulled pork variety was to die for.

Drinks included a pared down cocktail list - the gin one being pretty lethal for lunchtime - but good for those that like to taste the alcohol in their drink. Prosecco is a little lighter on the palate and comes in a tumbler rather than the ubiquitous flute.

Last but not least, the staff are all totally charming – perfectly attentive without being overbearing. Full of recommendations when you need them and for once I didn’t begrudge the 12.5% service charge.

Nobody's wife

Everything started on Wednesday afternoon. I was at my friend’s place while she was busy writing a song. A lot of talks about styles, melodies, cords and then the radio played it.
A flashback to 1997. I almost forgot it existed.  This song was the soundtrack of my high school years. How cool was at the time this really angry Dutch singer?
I thought it’d be nice to do a bit of revival of upbeat girly tones during this gorgeous English afternoon.

and if you feel you need a bit more of a kick, try this Pink number. Rest assured you'll get some energy out after you listen at these 2 songs!
I actually saw her hitting her highest notes rotating upside down at the IOW festival last summer while my fiance was playing there. She is an incredible performer.

I feel already happy! Have a lovely week end Trisorers!

Oh My Blazer!

Hello my dears,

After this mini-break (even I, sometimes, need a break) my post will have to deal with an essential: the boyfriend blazer.

I am obsessed with mine brought at Zara a few seasons ago in a peachy-nude colour and I use it *so* much, it never ceases to get some positive remarks!

This year the high street has loads on offer and whilst I would still go to Zara and the like I would take inspiration from the Stella McCartney collection. Great for pinning the look:
- A cream colour works well with everything and can be used both in the evening with some shine or in the day with whites and nudes;
- The fit is perfectly on the money in this model by Stella McCartney: fitted around the waist and arms but loosely tailored elsewhere. It's a boyfriend blazer but that's no excuse for dropping your feminine side...
- Finally the length: just below the bum for added cool over a pair of skinny jeans.

I would also recommend rolling up the sleeves for the final touch.

Ready to go, pair with white jeans + white tee for a fresh summer in the city look or skinny blue jeans and a silky blouse. Add some feminine touches like long chains, big earrings and sparkly shoes!

Have a great evening, mucho love!
Your Faithfully
xoxo The Eye

Please do not obstruct the 'pores'

So I flew back home this weekend and the first thing my mother said to me after surprising me by meeting me in the airport at 5am was "Wow, Marin, your skin looks amazingly clear". All those hours of fighting pores! Especially as a teenager! Finally paid off..

Skincare has always been a great passion for me. And as a true believer that a daily cleansing routine is all we need for beautiful skin, I have throughout the years tried and tested a million and one cleansing products. One of the things I advise using daily is the Exfolia beauty cloth. Whether you want to buff off old skin before an evening out or are using it to help remove last bits of make up, it complements any cleansing products.

Another brand new gadget that I recently purchased is the Bliss Pore-Fector that uses sonic vibrations to clear our any dirt that is trapped inside the deeper layers of the pores. It works magic!

Glorious, glorious skin. Glowing and clear, it is something that has never been out of fashion. I am not talking about the perfect photoshopped covers of fashion magazines. I'm talking about waking up in the morning, washing your face and being ready to go. Skin fresh from within. It is hard work but not hard enough for anyone not to attempt to achieve it.

Try this:

Mix 3 table spoons of warm honey with 5 teaspoons of salt, add one teaspoon of yoghurt and 2 drops of Lavender oil and evenly apply onto your face in circular motions for about 2 minutes.

Marina,

Enjoy!xx

How far would you go for success?

I was reading an article this morning on the huffington post:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/31/naomi-campbell-cadbury-ad_n_868909.html

about Naomie Campell being compared to a chocolate bar. I cannot help but asking you, fellow Trisorers (new word for Trisori fans), how far would you go to be successful?
I REALLY wonder what was Cadbury thinking when their marketing team created this ad?

Naomi Campbell is understandably upset about it and is considering taking Cadbury to court for it.
Does it matter to you that people get hurt (and the obvious reference to black people as chocolate bars is considered racism in this Country!), values questioned, wrong images reinforced?
It looks like that in 2011 people will do anything possible for a bit of glory (and sales driven from it).

Is it the only way forward?
